Gear to Go

Almost sorted my kit. This is it, everything i'll be carrying or wearing for 12 mths walking/travel. It's tracking about 8kgs pack weight. I'm sure I'll tweak a few more things before take off.

Right Tool for the Job

Friend of mine Theo rode down for a visit and a curry. We had some time to kill so went off to BMW to sus out the adventure bikes for my possible round Oz trip. I'm leaning towards the F800gGS exactly as pictured below. But still looking at Ducati multi (hard to not have a ducati) and the 1200GS

Farewell Lincoln Hall

Lincoln has been an inspiration to me. One story about his exploits would motivate me to don the pack and get out there.

To the Ferry & Farwell Tassie Untill Next Time

Late Check out of the Grand Chancellor and off to Deloraine for breakie. We then headed up to Meander until we hit dirt then rode back to the A% and up onto the Western Tiers and the great lake until again the road turned to dirt. Exhausted we rode back to Deloraine and sat in the park beside the river to punch out a few cryptic crosswords before heading to Devonport.

A mandatory finish to all tours of Tassie is a couple of Guinness'ssss before queuing to get on to the Spirit of Tassie. Once on board we slipped into the routine of pig out meal and a few drinks. This time around I discovered an excellent Tassie beer, "Moo Brew" a dark ale to rival all others.

Bicheno to Launceston

Supposed to Rain but as usually brilliant day. Started with a morning ride to Elephant Pass Pancakes then up coast to St Helens and in through to Scottsdale for coffee. Yep the Coffee shop Gallery was on NBN ("so your the one").

The ride to Launceston was awesome, fast sweepers, Leasky was dialed in and riding like a freak couldn't keep up.

Rest day Bicheno

Break from riding today as rain forecast. Spent the day lounging in the hotel overlooking the bay. Had a look at the Bicheno Motorcycle museum, well worth a look if your into bikes.

The evening was completed with a sensation meal at Cyrano, a small provincial style French restaraunt. Food was excellent as always.

Cyrano's nothing to look at but sensational

Walking on Air

Today we rode down the Huon valley ,sans luggage, through the Hartz mountains to the Tahuna air walk. The walk is an elevated walkway through old growth canopy, very impressive however I felt a little unclean as it is run by Tassie forestry.

On the way back to Hobart we rode up to Mt Wellington, awesome views,
clouds and alpine area. We bumped into a group of NSW motor cycle riders that were ahead of us on the ferry. This was their first trip and were blown away by the states riding.

A quick bite at Sapa Rose Vietnamese before a movie

Big day

Buttery smooth curves from Strahan to Derwent bridge. Went looking for a camp site as Leasky is still fanatical about camping, alas all options were rubbish so headed to Hobart. Off for a curry and beer
